LT1-LT4 Modifications 1993-97 Gen II Small Block V8

Ok guys im having an oil problem.

Default Ok guys im having an oil problem.

so i brough my car to a mechanic for the head gasket. long story short i got screwed over after replacign my brand new opti and doing my head gasket job the seal behind the water pump break when i leave. so i bring it back he redoes the seal and i leave. the seal blows again. this time he replaces the waterpump drive spindle assebly or whatever its called, and says that mine was broken(old one pictured)



so now after buying that and a breather cause he said my blow by could be blowing the seal, all said and done im out 2200 bucks and the car still leaks oil. now is there somehting wrong with him, did he screw up and nopt know what hes doing or is my car having a serious problem?

i refuse to put oil in my car every week and im gunna bring it to someone else tomorrow.

that drive gear and spline looks A OK to me

it wiggles the bearing is loose. but its still leaks. is the guy a moron?

its a shame. if you did all the work yourself.. you could have saved $1800 dollars.. thats with buying the new parts.

regardless, sounds strange that it keeps blowing. are you sure hes installing it right?

if you pull it again, do an electric water pump and forget about the mechanical bs It is also a good time to replace the chain. You can do this in half a day, for very little, with some research and a mechanic with some LT1 knowledge. Good luck Art

It looks fine in the picture but i wonder if something on the surface of the shaft was cutting the seal? Did the distributor seal also get replaced? If he said that was caused by
blowby then its posible that you have bad rings if thats the case. Are you sure its coming from the same place? Did this guy even do a cylinder leakdown test to prove to you that it dose have excessive blowby? Why did it get head gaskets?

yea he said i had bad rings and the surface is a little gnarled. all the sdeals were replaced nd the car doesnt seem to be loosing oil, but i now have a breather thats alwasy covered in oil... im hoping the car is ok.

hell for that money spend you could have bought a used lt1 and thrown in there and still saved some...that sucks man. as far as the w/p drive bein loose you can change just the brearing its like a 101 BCA number or somthin like that.

Is the rest of your PCV system intact? And are you sure the PCV valve is good? That in itself coud cause your issue.
