I'd recommend you go with the NSA Pro-Mags. Cheap insurance that will potentially keep the valvetrain more stable at higher rpm levels. They cost more than the Magnums plus you will need guide plates and studs so it will cost more. Thats another thing where I went with the Magnums myself and now Im getting Pro-Mags and I wish I would have forked out the extra cash to begin with.

I have some more info on it in my cam sticky at the top of the forum.
i had the 227 it was a great cam. i couldn't get the most of it since i had a bunch of knock that i couldn't get corrected until about a year later. by then i had gotten a new cam. i should have waited until i ran the 227 without the knock. anyway even with the knock though the car ran strong and sounded great. pm asandman i sold it to him a while back. don't get caught up on all the "babycam" talk.

so which cam will make more power ? 227 or 503 ? Also, are they both feesable with stock heads ? And how streetable are they ?

Thats not really comparing apples to oranges. The cc503 will make more peak power but the 227 will have more low end power/torque. So it depends what you want out of it, its not all about peak numbers dont forget. Both are great with stock heads and both have great drivability.

Gm846 is worth looking into, i ran it with stock heads and lt4 springs for a while, i was limited to 1.5 rr's because i was worried about over flexing the lt4 springs. was a nice combo, and emitted a sweet sound

Not trying to highjack but how about a cam that has the 227 power(low and mid-range) and the cc503 sound?!! (that works with the stock heads of course)

anyone know if there is one like that?

A custom grind could get you there. Most off the shelf stuff is put on excessively wide LSA which reduces overlap and tames idle with substantial midrange torque loses. Get something say HOT camish but on a tighter LSA and I think you will get what you are asking for. Friend has something much like this and it works well.

Yeah if you want that you should consider going custom, that could easily be done
