Pros:
Weight removal of the system
More space under the hood

Cons:
The AIR system's whole purpose is to increase the longevity of catalytic converters. If you don't have cats, there's no need for the AIR system. However, if you use a cat/cats, you should leave the AIR system in place IMHO.

Removal consists of taking out the AIR pump (driver side front of engine) and all associated tubing/hoses, and plugging a fitting on the driver side of the intake manifold. The PCM also needs programmed or you'll have a DTC.

AIR = Air Injection Reaction
PCM = Powertrain Control Module
DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code

^ you will NOT get a SES light from removing the air pump on a 97 f-body. no CONs really since you have LT's. just toss that crap away

pros: get rid of a ton of **** in the engine bay and make it look a lot cleaner

cons: none really, unless you have emissions testing and need it for that, but since you have ORY, I assume that is not an issue.

nope you shouldnt get a ses light either.

hey do they visually inspect your car at emissions? if so you might fail with it gone but you have LT's so i guess it wouldnt matter because you would fail with those. unless they just hoook up to the computer like here in wisconsin

I did this recently after the header install. Makes for more room to periodically check torque of the headerbolts. It is way cleaner under the hood. I don't have yearly inspections where my car is registered, so that is something to check on...

Hi guys, sorry to dig up this tread. I have the same question: will a ses light be displayed for a 1995 LT1 car if I remove the Air injection? I know 1995's have OBD1 so I shouldn't have any problems right?

It will throw a code but it won't trip a light.
