Would a Gran MAF cause an LT1 to run rich and/or poorly?

from what I have heard it is a $300 headache. stock MAF dumdumdum

I have one on my LT1, it was on the car when i bought it, mine did run on the rich side before i installed headers & ory, now it runs cleaner, hard to say if the Granittelli is the root of your problem unless its BAD, an old trick that i've seem mechanics do is lighty tap/rap on it with a piece of wood or hard rubber mallet, if your idle dances around, then it could be having issues (not saying this is the right way to check this), as for the Gran MAF causeing it to run poorly if its in good working order, i would say "NO", because in my cause, my car has a very smooth idle & outstanding throttle responce, but most of it came with the LT header install.

I would NEVER recommend running one of those MAFs. Stock one F T W!

A good friend of mine bought a Granatelli MAF and returned THREE of them because each were faulty. Caused the car to run like crap. He threw an SLP MAF on there, and he hasn't had any problems since.

It is good at WOT, run very rich, idles somewhat rough. I have the stocker MAF so I'll be putting that back on. I had it scanned for codes but the scanner would only hold the codes for a few seconds and would then blank out. The pcm was recently swapped for a reman from GM but the car is still running poorly so that wasn't the problem. Next thing I'm trying is a new wiring harness because I believe the issue is either electrical or ignition related. Hopefully I get lucky and it's the pos Gran MAF that the previous owner installed.

That MAF MIGHT be ok if your car is tuned for it. From what I hear they read differently than stock.

i had one in my mustang, a grantelli. i hated it. jegs stopped carrying them because people were having nothing but problems with it. my mustang was pegging the dyno's air fuel ratio at 20:1. (extremly lean) i ended up going with Pro-M and that semmed to work alot better.

however like the previous ppl have stated use the stocker untill u have some serious modifications done to it, its a waste of money, and a headache for little to no gain.

I musta got lucky with mine, A/F came out great when I had it ran on the dyno, never had any driveability issues either.

When I swap motors the stocker is going back in, I'm not going to throw a aftermarket MAF into the mix when people are trying to dynotune it.
