I plan on getting a 9" eventually. I was just wondering what his plan was. I've already seen the way others have braced the 10 bolt and it costs like $500. The way I see it is thats $500 towards a 9"!

Not that I would know much about it. I do this for a living and you are twelve years behind the curve
Tweleve Years ago it was breaking down like this. New bearings every year and a new ring and pinion every other year. This was at the 12 second level with an Automatic. Even then all it took was bad track prep and chattering out of the hole to need a new ring and pinion set. I went through seven of them.
I do not care what you do it is a huge waste of money if you are going to race it on a regular basis.
The only reason we were doing it is we did not HAVE a choice at the time.
We put a twelve bolt in the car six-seven years ago and it has paid for it self twice over so far
Now we are starting to push the edge of the 12 bolt so it will go in the wifes car and a Fab 9 with a spool and 5/8ths stud will go in mine.
For now we will see how long the 12 bolt comes out of the hole on over 600RWTQ off the trans brake!

I dont think its a hijack. I think Ellis on on point. If you are gonna beat on it, buy yourself some insurance and build the back end. I,ve had a few giggles in my direction because I put a 9" in a mid 12 second car. Well....it aint 12 seconds anymore. And its still street driven.

no 31 splines arent that strong i dont think...the good thing is they didnt break they twisted...
as for the 10 bolt...its true i know sombody that put a posi and moser axles in a 10 bolt, the cars a 3800 pound 3rd gen and its been 1.38 60' leavin on a 150 shot....left on a 350 and the rin broke...(3.23) stuck in 2.73 left on 350 and the ring broke...whoops...
myself ive been 1.4 on a 10 bolt but wheel hop killed it...if i hadent lowered my car i might still have it in there...
