I properly broke the setup in for over 500 miles. My first pass at the dragstrip, the clutch slipped all the way until 5th gear just like my stocker did. Needless to say, I'm not that happy with it, especially since it should hold way more than what I have for power.
I ran a spec 2 in my car for almost 40K miles with a stock motor and a 125 shot....then with my 383 setup(28 more hp than the old nitrous/stock motor). ran low 8's in the eighth mile- never gave a lick of trouble! Finally done it is doing 4K rpm dumps on slicks on night at the track. Threw in a Spec 4 then and I prolly have 10-15K on it(HARD HARD miles)- It is just now showing evidence of some slip- yet last weekend I cut my best 60' times ever, and finally broke into the 11's, with this wore out Spec 4.
Prolly going street twin next myself. But I always hear how terrible Specs are...but I must say- I've have great luck with them.

Now I have heard great things about the Ram clutches too. I have considered them- but I am hoping to step up to a 200 shot next year...I think the McCleod is the right choice for 600+ hp.

However, I was able to get the car down the track 6 times that night after letting it cool down for about an hour. I just didn't launch quite as hard.
My first attempt at a pass when it slipped, I gave it hell, and tried to launch at 5500rpm. The drag radials hooked and the clutch didn't.
Ironically, when I had my stock clutch in, the last time I went to the track with it, it slipped on me the same way, except it was on the 2nd pass of the day and I was on street tires. I let it cool down the same way and was able to get the car down the track on the next (and only) attempt without slipping. Then, when I had the clutch taken out, it still looked good - even after that and 65k miles of use. Go figure. So I think the McLeod will be all right. I just won't be able to launch off the limiter or anything.
Im looking at different clutches, but my car doesnt see more than 20miles a month and is going to see mostly race duty. Im leaning towards the OEM clutch kit with the McCleod disk but im not sure how power it will hold.
Edit: Found their site, but it says for LS series vehicles. Price sounds good, but I can't dish out that much money for my car.
and where can i find a twin disk for and lt1?
