Default LT1 to gen1 conversion

Hi, i am new to this forum and hoping to get some good info from its members. I am currently restoring a 76' chevy stepside pickup and have a strong running 5.7 in it right now. I would like to do an LT1 intake swap on it if possible. I already have a set of 12558062 vortec heads to bolt on to it, and just found an LT1 out of a 96' camero at my local j/y. Talked the guy down to $100 bucks for the whole top end, wiring, and ecu. Pretty sure thats a smokin' deal. But i want to make sure before i get it that i am not dreaming about making this work. Done some searching and found a few threads but not enough info that im looking for. So if anyone has some advise, or suggestions please help me out.

Here's a link to someone that does the conversion so you can fit an LT-1 intake on a 1st gen motor: http://www.lt1intake.com/services.htm

Unfortunately, he claims the conversion cannot be done to work with the vortec heads.

The LT1 pcm needs cam position info it gets from the opti, so to use it on a Vortec motor you would need to somehow get the optical portion of the opti into the distributor, it IS possible but not a simple project.

According to this guy the LT1 intake will not bolt up to the Vortec heads.http://www.lt1intake.com/services.htm
