is this totaled?
Hit a small tree today going like 25mph in the rain, bent the tree over and pushed it down. Doesn't appear to be any frame damage, but if i just get a new aftermarket SS hood from ASCD, a new bumper, fog lights and headlamp bar and get it all painted and put back on, should it be ok? When the car hit the tree it didnt feel much like anything...felt like I ran over a fairly big bump.
I got quotes from shops for like 5k-6k, but they were saying 2000 $ for the SS hood. I'm not gonna put an OEM hood on there for that much. and most likely we will just put the car back together ourselves, then get it to the paint shop. There are a bunch of wires hanging down, most likely for headlights and such.
anyone have any input on it or any ideas? could i get away with everything for under 3 grand? i dont have collision on the car sooo insurance is out. but still. I really hope the thing aint screwed from that. I just put like $4000 into the car in rear end parts and other stuff which pisses me off. finally just got it running right and getting 24mpg too....

If you don't have collision insurance, then it's not totalled.
You can definitely fix it from the looks of the picture. you should have a body shop check out the front unibody frame support in that are just to make sure its straight. Everything else you can fix yourself and then get the body shop to paint it.

Hey I will buy the hood the way it is.
No its not bad as they all said. Just find a shop you can trust, I have a family friend I trust he has done more paint work for me then I care to remember. If your in AZ I can connect you and him he can take care of you. He mainly rebuilds old classics but he works on the vehicles I send his way.
Anyway go with an aftermarket fiberglass hood, find yourself a new bumper in a JY along with the other little things you need.... fender does look ok but your looking at it in person. Put them on the car THEN take it to the shop and ask to have it painted. (Or even better if you do not mind waiting, buy the parts and have them painted then put them on, thats the easiest and the best way. Cheapest too)
Either way hope that helps. And I was serious I will buy your hood. Just PM me. I would be willing to try and rebuild it.

yeah it really didnt look that bad. a huge oak tree was right next to it though, glad didnt hit that. lol. im gonna order the parts this week, then see if i can get em painted and matched up correctly, then put em on. im just pissed i wasnt driving my beater, cause all it wouldve done was broke the headlights and dented the hood (steel bumper). lol. i wouldve just reversed and drove away.

^ Thats the hood i am going to get it. will that look almost identical to OEM?
Then the bumper cover:

Not sure where to get the headlights at, but they have the fog lights on there and the emblems and everything.
this all sucks though, i was gonna save up for a month and buy a forged 383 for the car. now its gonna take like 3 months. oh well. glad it wasnt my GTO so i dont have to make a claim.

Ok I got estimates back from a couple shops...this is not looking good.
They said it needs 2 hours of frame work, tons of misc **** like brackets and stuff, Radiator support is ruined, fender has to be repaired, new bumper, new hood, CAPA bar, energy absorber, impact bar..They are saying the low beam is $200 and the high beam is $180.
What should i do?? With the ASCD hood and front bumper, the total is around $4500 in damage. With 100,000 on the car and it being a 97, would insurance total it if i go through them?

There is not anything major with your car. If you are comfortable with doing the body work yourself could save yourself quite a bit of money and you will learn a thing or two as well. What you have for damage could be done over the course of a few weeks just take your time and do it right.
This is a car I acquired as a parts car as the insurance company totaled it:

That car does not look totaled, i got an insurance check for my 91 olds that had 1064.00 in damage (on the generous side) & the car was valued at 1100.00, this way i could keep the car, so i'm sure if the car is valued in the 5500.00 to 6000.00 they shouldn't total it if the damage is 4500.00 or lower, but who knows, on the plus side, if the air bag/bags did not deploy, you should be fine, but it does look like something you could tackle yourself, some body shops will adjust damage on the high side & want to replace every itsy-bitsy part when it comes to insurance claims, thats were they make there $$$$, can't blame them, plus they do have certain giude lines they need to follow, so cost will be MUCH higher if this helps.
