Wow they are expensive But i guess if it holds up that will work. I went out this morning and the my car drove around for about a minute and then everything was gone so i think i fried the clutches or something.

I think you have a big fluid leak somewhere. Or it could be something as dumb as low fluid, have you bothered to pull the dipstick and check the state the fluid is in and make sure its full. Does it have a dark brown or orange look and smell pungent?

If the fluid still looks fine, maybe its something more simple like the turbine shaft seals on the input shaft. if they cross leak it will have the clutches opposing each other.

I dont know i dont leak well it leaks like a two or three drops around the pan it is just a little and the fluid is not Brown but its not brand new either and it does smell burnt. So i am going to change the fluid and the filter and put back in my stock convertor next weekend and see what it does. I think that will answer alot of my questions.

By leak I meant internally around the teflon turbine shaft seals. Not like out of the trans onto your driveway. Its already kicked the bucket though imo. Hope the stock converter and filter change isnt a total waste of time but i'm fairly certain it is.

Have the converter you already bought cut cleaned and inspected though when you have it rebuilt assuming its a good brand name.

Time for a new Tranny basically, I wouldn't even waste the time ****** with it.

Like mentioned..there are some good guys here that can build them real well. They are not cheap either.

A good build will last.. I had my first 4L60E "built to handle" my 402 by a local guy..two passes down the 1000ft Track I shattered the Sprag, ballooned the Sunshell and Reverse Drum causing 3&4 Clutches to fly apart. Basically I had nothing past second.

I got a friend that runs a Tranny Shop locally and one of the guys there that used to build Race Trannies hooked it up with some tricks, that thing is a beast now. With a 3600 Stall it does good enough to pull consistant 1.56 60 ft's.
