these pics may help you guys out a tad, they are taken after I installed my mac headers a few years ago.

that pic shows where the header collectors exit

my y-pipe was angled down for some reason so I had to have an exhaust shop bend a pipe so I could mate it up with a cat and my SLP loudmouth. because of this I had better ground clearance with pacesetter long tubes. if there wasn't a defect it would have been much better. mine was the lowest I have ever seen.

here is another view of some of the y-pipe and the cat.

you can kinda see the plug access on the drivers side in this pic. as said before, it was very good.

0-80 in car acceleration

overall they were good for about 3-4 tenths and 3 mph at the track with 3.73s and a CAI being the before mods. the install was pretty easy. I, however, would NOT purchase them again. the slip tube leaked all the time which made the drivers side O2 sensor read lean. then it dumped more fuel in to that engine bank. ultimately it led to the car running like complete ***. I went from mac mids to pacesetter LTs and went from trapping 109 to 113 in my 383.

Sorry but this doesn't sound like the headers fault for these issues...more like installed wrong or something to do with your exhaust set up. I know several folks with the Macs and never any feeback like this.

there is no way to install them wrong. I put the same set on a buddy's car and they did the same thing. other than the slip tube leaking (maybe a band clamp to fix that?) and the y-pipe exit facing down at the ground they were good headers.

I've installed mac headers on my car and a buddy's car and I have installed pacesetter headers on my car and again on my buddy's car after he got rid of the macs. the pacesetters are about the same price, offer the same plug access, and they make more power. and as an added bonus, they sound better

So you are saying it leaked where the clamp connects?? Were the pacesetters LT's?? Because I have had both and the Pacesetters were crap quality wise..pin holes on them and wasn't impressed with the bends. Were they ceramic or stainless. If the pacesetters were LT's of coourse you are gonna get more power..

And there is no such thing as NOT possibly messing up a install job

You are human..anything is possible when it comes to install. To say there is no way to install headers and ypipe set ups wrong leads me to believe you don't know what you are truely doing. Several people run these headers with no problems or Mac wouldn't sell them if they were having problems with them.
