Default Looking for the old muscle car sound, what do you recommend?

Okay so i wanted to get an exhaust set-up,mainly just some good headers for some horsepower, butget the old muscle car crackleing sound, can i just get the headers and remove the cats? Or how does it work? I would rather just put in headers and mess the rest of the exhaust system like removing the cats,i dont care about emissions as i will do this as soon as i pass smog, thanks

Headers and true duals will get you the closest.

I had the "old musclecars" back when they were new. A Magnaflow catback will give you the sound. I have one on my LT1 and its got all the right noises for me.

Long tubes, X-pipe, Chambered mufflers and dumps will get you the sound you are looking for.

Open Headers! Most those guys run duals in to a set of flow master mufflers, any true dual set up you create is going to sound similar.

i think texas speed makes a dual setup that turns down at the axle. i got mine done custom at an exhaust shop. then, just choose the mufflers you want to go with it.

louvered glasspacks....
If you want that crackle, thats where the gold is. ive got em on my Vortec engined truck, with a true dual setup, and its the most unique sound. If I might say so myself, its audible sex.
But... GMMG's exhaust sounds just as good...

I can guearantee the sound you're looking for can be done cheaply with Pacesetter LT's, Summit Xpipe and 2 dynomax bullets dumped. My friend has this exact setup and it sounds amazing. Kind of wish I would've bought them instead of my expensive Spintechs

Well, I was "there" in those days (if you're talking about the 70's era)
and we ran headers/duals/glasspacks, specifically Cherry Bombs. For most
of us that were there, that *is* the old muscle car sound. On one of my
other cars, I had headers, feeding into sidepipes (effectively, glasspacks).
