Default Hit a snag...

I just replaced the opti on my z28. I got the MALF 16 or whatever it is code. So I just finished replacing the opti and the car turns over, has spark (checked plug wires) and you can smell fuel coming from the exhaust. But it won't catch.

Any suggestions? I'm going to put the data logger on and try turning it over tomorrow, hopefully I can pull a code...

Just curious, which opti did you replace with? Factory Delco or other?

ACDelco. I was advised to stay away from any other type.

I'd check your plug wires. Sounds like you might have got a couple of them in the wrong order when reassembling.

Clear the code. Are you using Datamaster? DTC 16 is low res.

Clear and collect again. Put the file on here

The summit brand is $250 and the acdelco is $310. I paid $310, so I'm sure it's the ACDelco. The code is gone, no codes at all right now. It might be bad gas? I am pretty sure the wires are on right, but I will have to go check (again). I'm not terribly worried anyways with the gas prices as is, I don't think I want to put premium in a s/c 350

Does it start or hit at all? Do you have datamaster? Did datamaster indicate code is cleared?

No codes at all. Datamaster-EE. All the vitals check out and are fine, the only thing that worries me is that I have less than 10 volts when cranking. It usually is between 7 and 10 volts.

That voltage is ok when cranking (7 is low but as long as it cranks--ok). Does datamaster show the rpm changing, map, injector dc?

It's reading everything... Inj pulse, spark adv., etc. The rpm is staying constant @ 50 rpms I believe, the laptop took a dive on me and I need to charge it to get some info.

I didn't notice this before, it's showing knock count when cranking. My best guess right now is plug wires, cuz when I switched two of them (3 and 5) the car almost started. They are such a PITA to reach with the vortech in the way.

The rpms do start at 125 and go up, 150 to 175, down to 75, 125, 175, 200, and so forth.

The data I pulled:

RPM/RPM16: 175/175
MAP KPa: 94.1
Fuel Trim Cell: 0
LTerm Counts: 128/128
STerm Counts: 128/128
BPW mS: 29.24/29.24
INJ DC (calc): 4.3/4.3
o2 sensor mV: 781/879
AFGS: 0.00 <------------- MAF reading 0 gm/sec?
TPS %: 0
TPS volts: .67
Spark Advance: 13.0
Spark Retard: 0
Knock count: 1622 <----- this is my worry
EGR DC: 0
CCP DC: 0
IA Temp in Celc: 24.5 degrees
A/C Temp in Celc: 20.0 degrees
A/C Press PSI: 84.0
Idle RPM: 3188 <----------wtf?

ok no problem

The data I pulled:

RPM/RPM16: 175/175
MAP KPa: 94.1
Fuel Trim Cell: 0
LTerm Counts: 128/128
STerm Counts: 128/128
BPW mS: 29.24/29.24

that is WAY high! Mine cranks with and starts with ~8 ms

INJ DC (calc): 4.3/4.3

mmm mine is ~2 but I have 42 lbs and it is started at that point

o2 sensor mV: 781/879

well that implies it is hitting since low is lean and missing is lean

AFGS: 0.00 <------------- MAF reading 0 gm/sec?
normal until it fires up

TPS %: 0
TPS volts: .67
Spark Advance: 13.0
Spark Retard: 0

all normal

Knock count: 1622 <----- this is my worry

not to worry it starts at some point meaningless until the number changes

EGR DC: 0
CCP DC: 0
IA Temp in Celc: 24.5 degrees
A/C Temp in Celc: 20.0 degrees
A/C Press PSI: 84.0

all normal

Idle RPM: 3188 <----------wtf?

normal

IAC Pos: 154[/QUOTE]

ok

I haven't touched the tune. Bryan from PCMforless put a base tune on it and I took it home and started working the bugs out.

has this tune run before in your car? I would try a stock tune if this hasnt run in your car before.
