HEY.....THE ISSUE WAS TORQUE UNDER 4000 RPM'S......MOST CARS THAT DO ANY RACING NEVER SEE RPM'S THAT LOW.....TORQUE IS IMPORTANT....I' M NOT SAYING IT AIN'T........JUST FAST CARS....OR EVEN SNOWMOBLES FOR THAT MATTER RARELY SEE THAT LOW OF RPM'S.....THATS WAY THEY MAKE STALL CONVERTERS AND 2STEPS.........SO YOU PUT THE CAR IN THE RPMS THAT MATTER.....SOME OF YOU PEOPLE ARE POINTLESS....

You clearly didn't read my post about torque being behind HP. Please, go take a long walk in a deep forest for me.

I understabd why TA kid wants torque, cause its a daily driver. Torque is nice for driving around on the street, in a drag race HP is what matters though.

I came up with this thread initially to show that factory manifolds lack hp and tq through out the intire RPM range not just around 3,000 rpms. However I usually see big gains with the longer runner intakes (like 50rwtq at 3,000rpms) but even in the 4,000+ rpms Tq gains would still be 30+ so these longer runner manifolds would be better for racing as well .

Manifold choice like stated above is not as critical on a Forced Induction application but a N/A combo it is.

My super vic conversion is making 400+ lb ft of torque at 2900 rpms through a 4l60e and a 9 inch, peaking at 436 lb ft and is FLAT as a board from 2900 to 6600. I will find the graph and post it. With 250cc intake ports and a solid roller that peaks at 6500 ish rpm. Kinda flushes ALL those "rules" we follow huh? Keep in mind these numbers are with two wounded pistons, havent been back on the roller since I fixed them.

I personally wouldn't consider that a flat curve Fast. I mean that's 325~ up to 440~ then down to 350~. Flat to me is this:

Fair enough

Tap, while I understand that graph starts @ 3,500rpms, whys your torque take such a heavy nose dive?

your missing the point.....take your slow car and plow the forest into a field at 1500 rpms and I'll be racing from 4000 rpms and up.....yes from stop light to stop light.......go read a car magazine...

Big loose torque converter, thats why. Also why his torque is so screwey!

My numbers are with the converter locked.

I made 441rwhp with it unlocked.

TAP, I have NEVER seen hp look like that on a graph, did Ed say anything about that?

You enjoy that lack of gas mileage then.

Torque is important, I mean who doesn't want a big fat torque curve. A short narrow band curve isnt what 99% of us look for. I love the fact I have over 350rwtq from 2800rpms upward.

Apparently you're an idiot like me then Just a downfall of owning a SBC I guess

Also: Anyone who does NOT think torque is important, or like torque, you can buy a Honda S2000. High *** revving motor, very little torque.

Yea Ed said the convertor is keeping it flat like that. The spike in the torque is the flash of the convertor. Im making more power with the cam swap this year. It made 411 on a mustang dyno, which are usually 15% lower than a dynojet. Hoping to get some passes in this weekend. Then we go for single digits:
