First Post! Wish it didnt have to be this though(rad. leak)
Hi I bought a 1996 transam a few days ago, I think Ive been screwed though, because right when i got home it started a steady stream of coolant drip, we have now figured out where the leak is coming from, its right under the overflow cap, the plastic part, its a small crack, I took a picture but couldnt get a clear shot but here it goes
Heres where your looking at

and heres a close up(crappy) shot of the crack

What I wanted to know is there any marinetex or other sealant that will seal something that small or am I going to end up replacing the whole radiator? It runs fine untill I'm stopped, then the tstat opens and starts the leak.
I'm taking it too the radiator shop tomorrow but wanted to know what the lt1 guys have to say about it, other then that, I'm lovin this car!

I appreciate all the advice. SS RRR that area your referring to appears to be some sand, the first pic is just showing the general idea where i'm talking about, the little crack sprays a half inch stream of coolant towards the direction of the rear. Hopefully it can be repaired. I've never replaced a radiator before, I guess its time to start searchin'.

I'd also take it out and try to patch it. Either the fiberglass resin, plastic welding (not easy if you don't know how) or simply use some JB weld heh. Make sure you sand it down and clean it very well (carb cleaner works good) before you do any sort of repairs.
