Default race fuel

Does ant one run this stuff. My friend has some left over from the winter that he ran in his turbo injected snow mobile. He offered it to me but will it do any harm?

I've ran 110oc. Won't hurt if you run it straight (as in no gas in the tank), but depends on the brand. The stuff we have here is leaded, so you won't want to run it very often

You'll notice 3 things (depending on how much you run): Seat of the pants gain, exhaust smell and watering eyes (from the strong exhaust fumes if you have the windows open).

Would it actually hurt something if you mix it with regular fuel or is it just that it would lower the octane level?

What does the "oc" in 110oc stand for? And what about brands as far as good ones and bad?

We have had mixed results with leaded. Some times ok other times it takes out the O2s in ten minutes. A O2 change cost me almost two bill's so it pays for me to used UL

BTW 110oc = 110 Octain

well it all depends on if you have a cat on your exhaust and what your car is tuned for. I run the fuel trailer at sacramento raceway so I see people try all kinda of fuel. Sometimes race fuel will slow you down and i have seen some cars improve by up to .3 of a second. Some cars especially modern cars dont like leaded fuel which is usually 110 octane and higher because it burns hotter. Unless you have changed your compression you really wont need anything that is leaded or higher than 104 octane. and mixing it with 91 or any other pump gas wont hurt at all it just dilutes the octane rating. Like 2 gal of 104 octane mixed with 5 gal of 91 will dilute the motor octane to about 99 or so. But you should be safe runnin any unleaded fuel. Leaded fuel and higher octane fuels are actually harder to ignite so unless you are set up for it you may just lose performance. I personally liked 100 unleaded for my car and only a couple gallons to raise the motor octane. hope I could answer your question...

Yeah its aviation gas, and it isn't leaded.
How about rubber seals on the injectors, does it damage them?
Oh and will the catalic get pluged up like injectors running the leaded fuel or is there another reason that a cat is good/bad. I don't have a cat, thats why I ask.

If you dont have a cat leaded wont hurt you but i noticed in my car when i put 110 in it lost hp and it has lt4 heads and a cam with out a cat.. If you have an cam or different heads for higher compression than you will get performance from leaded or really high octane fuels. But yeah the leaded fuel does clog cats but i have never heard of it hurt the injectors/fuel system. The bad thing about race gas though is if you have too much of it compared to 91 you have to dilute it or burn most of it cause when it evaporates it leaves a residue, at least on most fuels. The more expensive fuels usually are better about being cleaner.

We run 100 unleaded here. It's the same price as 110 leaded , but can be used in computer controlled vehicles with oxygen sensors and not cause any problems. It's really nice on nitrous applications and we also use it natrually aspirated and it allow us to run more ignition timing without spark knock, detonation, etc. Hope this helps.

If it is AV gas I would have to say it is leaded. Unless there is another fuel I dont know about it would have to be 100LL.

I get my 110oc leaded at the gas station lol It's only at like 3 stations though, and the pump nosil is big like diesel so you have to go slow so it doesn't splash all over. Or use a funnel, or use a screwdriver to push the flat on your car open.

I didn't have a cat on my 91, and I do on my 93, but I noticed a difference in both.

I saw no gain from unleaded 104 octane. Strangely, it was hard to start after the fillup, took about 4 or 5 cranks to start, it acted like it wasn't getting fuel. That was about 4 months ago and haven't had any trouble sense, fuel pump is fine too.

Well your car starting like that is a fluke. The fuel in the lines will be still whatever oc pump gas you put in before. It wasn't the race gas yet.

I talked to him today about it and he said it is not leaded and that it is vp brand. Any of you guys ever tried vp?
Oh buy the way when I was talking about it guming up the injectors what I meant to say was o2 sensors not injectors, some times I drool when I type fast.....

vp is one of the more expensive fuels. Its better about being cleaner than sunoco or torco. VP would be the better fuel to use but if your using unleaded you have nothin to worry about when it comes to hurting anything, its when you start using leaded is when it can get dangerous

AV Gas is Aviation fuel heh Ask him for the number rating for it. And whatever number he gives you, the first number is the Octane rating of it.

Thanks for all the info it's settled race fuel going in the car. Hey just thought about something else, how much fuel do you put in it per run or do you guys just dump in the can. The reason I ask is for weight savings?

I don't understand the first number. If it's a 1 is it 100, 104? Can you give me an example.

Well, after reading, I guess you can't even USE the octane numbers used with AV Gas since they are set up differently than for pump gas.

Have a read:
