Great idea with the video... a suggestion if i may... reconsider doing it without the hoist...
not everyone has access or can afford to pay for one... although it may be the easiest way...
i have done it without the hoist (actually doing it again tonight) and it's not that bad... I use suv jackstands and a decent floor jack... i also have a small steel cart that i rest the tranny on to wheel it all around...

I'd love to have access to quick write ups like that! That would definitely help many people out.

I saw your clip and I like the idea. I would like to see the finished version also, it would be a good refrence for 1st timers, and a reminder of where everything went for those who could not do it over night. It could be a a way to see where things go if you do little projects, so it might be an idea to have more than one verson. But that means alot of editing time, so maybe later down the line. If you really want to get in to it you could do the out from the bottem, out from the top and all in between, but that is only an idea. Too bad you could not get some help to get it out sooner.

I saw no details... i did see some fat guys a$$ crack ...

4 guys to do that??? i do it alone and i leave the wheels on so it's not that hard to install the mounts into the shock tower braces (line the bolts up and let the car down on them... the 10% rule is in affect... you must be 10% smarter then the task at hand...)

I've done it by myself also before, I just had a bunch of people over hanging out when we put it back together. I've done over thirty 4th gen swaps so I'm not new to the game. Usually the shock towers go back in easier, but I had the hals on the car with the coilovers raised up so that is why it was harder for it to go in this time.

i'm no expert... to each is own...
I do like the cherry picker idea but i don't think i have enough room in the garage to roll the assembly out the side...
where and how did you hook up the cherry picker?

i would love to have the extra hands but everyone is always busy...

I used to wrap chains around the frame until we made these....

We use these stands when we don't have enough space to pull the motor out the side...

the way i do it is....
disconnect everything,

power steering, brakes, drive shaft, the entire wiring harness, fuel, air conditioner, crossmember, abs wires, O2 sensors (anything else i've missed that has a wire/hose connected to engine)

note- disconnect front brakes lines from ABS and pull the lines out of the clips so they don't get bent/damaged

takes the nuts/bolts out for the strut tower (might have to take off the master cylinder to remove the torques bolts)

take off the wheels

loosen k-member bolts

drop the car down on a dolly making sure the k -member is positioned right under it

take out the k-member bolts and lift the car with an engine hoist or tree (i connected the engine hoist to the hood latch bracket and it held up just fine for both engine swaps i've done)

make sure nothing is still connected as you're slowly lifting the car

and bam you're done
