I have read the thread with cam info, i have some other questions now. i have a set of edelbrock performer heads on my car and i want to intall a cam the matching cam is 218/218 .560/.560 112LSA w/1.6rr . will this cam be able to pass the sniffer test com emissions time? do i have to tune this right away or will it run without a tune? Next would be info about tunning if i had too......but dont wanna/budget tight some help and advise please!

Yes that cam will pass the sniffer assuming you have a cat or cats of course but the cam itself will not prevent you from passing. It should run without a tune just not great. I would definetly tune it but if it must wait a week or a couple weeks then thats ok. Since on a budget I would recommend a mail order tune by Bryan Herter @ PCMforless.

When budget is tight it is more important to do the research and get things right the fist time.

Sofar you are failing miserably, reallly a sad package you bought and you should not even consider modifying the engine and not reprogramming for it.

That heads and cam package makes less than 400 at the flywheels, good stuff makes more than that at the rear wheels. Really really a sad package.

look guy im not lookin to be judged here on the "package" the heads have been on the car for 2 or more years now and i have run 13.3 @111mph on bald *** street tires with a 2.3 60ft. my questions are simple if you are gonna beat on me come pay my bills first and then we can talk. ****! back to someone who is more personable, i tried to contact brian and i keep missing him, were playing phone tag like crazy, but i want to get it tuned. i am only putting a cam in because to opti crapped out on me and i am converting to the 95s vented setup so i will be in there may as well do a cam ya know. i put my 355 short block on hold due to the budget, i cant get the other nessasary parts to complete the short block i got sitting at work. so this will hold me over. but what will be the reprocusions of no tune, will i bure up valves fast? or what?

I ran for I think 500 miles and there weren't any issues before I put my car on the dyno back when it had a cc503. Obviously the car won't drive the best or have all the power etc. If you will be running different sized injectors then I would not drive the car without a tune b/c then you could have issues. I would email Bryan, he always responds back to me within a day and I just was talking to him about 2 weeks ago. He is located in PA out near Pittsburgh so the turn around time would be quick for you. I sent my computer out and had it back 5 business days later. Another thing is he comes down to the Philadelphia area once per month to dyno tune at a local shop. That would be one thing to consider but that will run you $400 versus $175 plus shipping both ways so about $205 for the mail order tune and I know your on a budget. If you have the money now I would just send him your computer now or very soon and you can put it back in and have it ready even before the car is finished.

the LT1s run better with a "split duration" cam. if you are on a budget there are a few Hot Cams in the classified section for sale pretty cheap.

the cam you listed had the same duration for intake and exhaust at 218. a "split-duration" cam is 218 intake and 224 exhaust. i think those are the numbers for the hotcam. so it would look like @ 0.50 218/224 or something close to that

The stock LT1 heads have restrictive exhaust ports relative to the intake ports so they favor more duration on the exhaust side to help balance it out. However you have different heads and considering I know nothing about those Edelbrocks I cannot say for sure but that single pattern cam you have may be a good match to them I dunno.
