I have noticed a difference of heat absorbtion when I had the LT1 in there..the Intake picks up some heat under the Hood pretty quick. With the LSX the Polymer Intake stays pretty cool. If it gets warm it cools down pretty quickly.

i spent 10 bucks on my fan switch and dont let it get over 180

. it was worth it and super easy
