Default 94 Formula wont start.

Ok ... my 94 Formula LT1 wont start. Engine light and security light is on. Checked engine light with a scanner from Oreilly's and no codes were present. Checked voltage to the coil and it is good. ICM is good. New blaster coil and coil wire. Not getting any spark..... any suggestions? Opti was replaced about 20k miles back.
It started having problems a few months back.... die on me but would restart. Now wont start.... cranks but no start.

Thanks,

Bubba G.

The starter is fine .... it cranks over with no problems.... it just isn't getting spark to the plugs.... all fuse's inside and under the hood are ok.

Okay well if its cranking, then you might wanna check your fuel pump,if that is working, then the ignition coils or swap out the crank angle sensor.

maybe a security issue? are you using the right key? dont mean to ask a dumb question but it makes a difference. doesnt the security system on these cars disable the ignition? try leaving the key in the on position for 15 min and see if the security light goes off. then turn the key off and try restarting the car.

You didn't ask a dumb question..... any help is greatly appreciated.

I am using the only key I have for it that I've been using since I got the car way back in Nov. 96.

I'm not for sure if it disables the ignition system or just the fuel system. Could be the problem if it does disable the ignition system.

The car cranks over fine.... just no spark. I checked the voltage on A & D like the link says and there is no voltage present. Checked the fuses inside and under hood and they are good..... now what?

Well when mine went out I had voltage just no signal. I couldnt tell you on that situtation but you did prove why you are not getting spark. Check those at the pcm level you might have a broken wire

You stated that you had a new coil. Is this something you put on when you changed the opti or afterwards? Any chance the MSD coil you put in is defective? Also which brand opti are you using?

I just put on the new coil to try to see if that was the problem. The opti is from Oreilly Auto Parts..... believe it to be delco.

Tested the voltage on the pcm side and term A has 5 volts term D nothing.
I said before I think the opti has around 20k miles but after checking it is around 32K miles....

but what's the deal with the voltage from the pcm..... even tried my other untuned pcm and still same results.

Your opti isnt kicking back a signal thats what Im thinking, You should have a warranty from them thats where I was going to buy mine. maybe there is a wire crossed or something

Did the problem surface at the same time as the security light?
