I am gonna be in your same boat, so-to-speak.. Except, I want to be a solid 11 second car. My 4L60E was gutted and re-done to handle the extra load ($2250). I went with an Edge Racing 3000rpm stall (with the anti balooning plates, for nitrous), my LT1 was completely rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted, bored .030 over, diamond flat tops, 3 angle valve job, ported and polished, LT4 hot cam, ditched the 48mm TB for a BBK 52mm TB matched to the intake, 1.6 roller rockers and roller lifters, Mac mid-length headers (had em ceramic coated at Performace Coating Specialties in Arlington, Texas), SLP Loudmouth exhaust, Random Technologies hi flow cat, Moroso CAI w/ a Vortech Aluminum Elbow, Cold Fusion 200 HP wet nitrous kit, and a few other misc stuff like MSD opti replacement and MSD 8.5mm wires, etc etc etc.. Since it's going to be a daily driver, I HAVE to pass the state inspection (emissions, eeek).
I am in need of someone who seriously knows how to tune an LT1, reprogram, etc. Purple95Z28 - let us know (let me know, LOL) what your gear choice is and if the additional mods worked for ya.. I am on the fence on doing anything to my rear / gearing (12 bolt GM 3.73's or 4.10/11 vs 9" Ford 3.70, 3.89 or 4.11's).

You need a real converter. At least a Yank 3600 or a Vig. 3200-3400 and a set of 3.73 gears. There's other companys that make a good converter, but I only have experience with those two. Throw in a set of headers and sticky tires and you should be very close to the ET your looking for.

when I was bolton I ran 12.52@108 with 3600 lb race weight. mods were
cai
373 gears
3000 vigilante
et streets
MAC SHORTY HEADERS
cutout
bone stock motor
bone stock suspention
bone stock rear end
bone stock tuning
bone stock tranny
all stock parts had over 100,000 miles on them also
and a crappy 1.70 60ft
not saying it was a big deal running that just pointing out how easy 12`s are on a bolton LT1

Shorty headers will definitely gain. I picked up a couple tenths and a couple mph with them. That being said, LT's will gain more. If you live in an emissions state though...
