Default AI cam

I have a 95 LT1 with headers, exhaust, cai, and a 3200 stall. I am considering the ai 226/234 540/575 and a 110 LSA cam kit. I know i will also have to purchase new lifters (LS7) and probably an LT4 timing chain. My question is does this cam make good usable power on stock heads? I am goin to do heads eventually but not at the same time. Also will i need a new oil pump?

No need to buy new lifters, you can if you want but generally it is not mandatory. On the timing chain I would just get a new stock chain and put it on the old gears provided they look OK.

You were looking at the full kit right? Springs, pushrods, rockers etc., the stuff you actually do need.

Would not bother replacing the oilpump, would put a melling driveshaft in they are only like $7 cheap insurance. Might consider a higher pressure relief spring in the pump they are cheap too.

spring is GMPP 3848911

I was going to order a cam, but instead I ordered a crate motor. Can't wait to get it in the car.

Thats a nice cam to run on stock heads. So you know, an LT4 timing chain WILL NOT fit on LT1 sprockets. I made that stupid mistake myself way back so just get a new GM LT1 chain for $40 assuming the sprockets are in good shape as well.

They offer the most complete kit I have seen to date for an LT1 cam swap. Right down to new valve seals and installation tool.

The stock cam can benifit from more spring. In other words ALL upgrade cams need more than stock valvesprings. I know that in decades pas with flat tappets sometimes you could get away with stock springs, but with the heavier roller lifters and more aggressive lobes, there is no chance.
