totally fooled me, i was wondering why you didnt just say search but thats a much better idea.

to the op, if you ask such a general question you are bound to get two people into an arguement about which of the smallerish cams are better. happens everytime im sure you will here crane 227 and the lpe 111-119 and the speed inc custom grind Cadillac Cam or something around there. or even a hotcam as much as i hate hearing about those old things.

306 needs to rev higher than is prudent on a stock shortblock, and is a hassle to tune compared to other cams. You can easily have a "smaller" cam that is more reliable, drives better and makes more power.

Guys should first be asking what mods you already have?

I did a cam way to early in my modding, lots of other things should be done first.

Hey Irocc, atleast you came to the forum to ask, unlike me . I ended up with the cam in my sig, check it out. I made that power with some float around 5k rpms. Imo, if I would've asked in time, I would've gotten the LPE 211/219 cam.

And my heads are stock.

this may make things easier...i got a full moroso cold air with elbow, pacesetter LT headers w/EGR, pacesetter Y-pipe, and flowmaster 80 series 3 in cat back. slp 3 pt subframe, and 3 pt strut bar. and that's my mods. will that make cam choosing easier knowing that. stock heads. stock valvetrain. yes i realize i would need a new valvetrain with a cam. but what cam would now be the best bet knowing what i have. and i have msd opti and wires and plugs.

The MSD opti was a mistake.

Is the car M6 or A4? With either you should do gears 3.73s are most popular with the A4, 4.10s with the M6.

If an A4 you should do a stall and Transgo.

Far as new valvetrain with the cam the lifters can usually be reused.

Is emissions testing a concern?

it's a M6. i hope emissions isn't a problem cause the car is going to hawaii for 5 years and is registered in illonois. so hopefully that's not a problem. and what about rearend and suspension
