Default My first ever run in the new T/A

Ok, what do you think, i just bought it 1 week and 4 days ago, and had to take it to the track just to see what it would do. I am still not use to the clutch or PRO 5.0 shifter, and the shifts were slow, so what do you think?

FIRST RUN: spun all the way through first, then instead of going into 4th, i "attempted" to go into 2nd. scared me because i thought my rear end was laying on the track in pieces. Then i coasted the rest.....pretty slow.

Reaction .27
60 ft 2.62
1/4 ET 15.33
1/4 MPH 81

Second run: bogged some out of the hole, decent run the rest of the way.

Reaction .512
60 ft 2.19
1/8 ET 9.33
1/4 ET 14.42
1/4 MPH 98.1

Third and final for the day: bogged some out of the hole.....AGAIN, decent the rest of the way, and slow shifts

Reaction .318
60 ft 2.16
1/8 ET 9.29
1/4 ET 14.33
1/4 MPH 98.6

I am getting the computer Re-tuned Sunday, since i know its not right, and possibly messed up (throws a rear O2 sensor code.....i dont even have one, [95']), and when i can learn how to drive it i would guess a 14.0.

Yeah I know every car is different, but my old m6 lt1 ran 13.8's bone stock on junk tires. I would make a few more passes just to rule out your driving before you get to worried about it though.

In my 96 6spd Z28 I have a CAI, hurst shifter and magnaflow catback(manifolds) and cut a 9.00 in 1/8(no 1/4 track close) with a 2.05 60ft... My tires were OK but no drag radials or anything... not sure on the elevation... give it some time, you'll cut it down...

no worries man. I ran my 97 lt1, stock but catback and intake, and best i got was a 14.5 on shitty street tires. First time at th track also. I imagine high 13's, low 14's is where these cars should be at at least. My track elevation was like 2200ft also...lame

well, i'm not too worried about it now anyways, have a slight miss (yes the one everyone has), and the tune sucks. hopefully i wont have to get new plug wires. and i am looking into getting a MSD coil too, and my coil wire is stock also, yet i have MSD plug wires it will be good eventually though.

What track were you at in Kansas? I race at MAD (Mid-America Dragway) at Ark City, KS when I have the time to drive up there and no conflicts with my home track.

Jerry Wilson who runs MAD is a super guy!

I thought that said SUPER GAY, lol.

I run at WIR/KID (under new ownership), its like 20 mins away, so its easier.

Oh and that was easy, i fixed the miss. plug wire was up against the steering rod (the one from the column to rack and pinion)

If you had a plug wire rubbing against the steering linkage, I doubt that was causing your miss. You sure it's really running better now?

Your times are pretty bad - even with mediocre driving you should still be trapping at least 104mph in that car.

Well, i am going to cruise the car tonight here soon so i will find out for sure, and ill give you the whole time slip.

My guess is that it is the tune. The tuner said the first time he did it the fuel trim or setting or percentage or something was stuck at 127 and would not move. i have a feeling thats my problem right there, or that i have LT's and true dual's and an LT1 knock module and its pulling timing.

here is my best pass:Oh and it was muggy as a **** that night too

Hmmm, well i went out and drove it and it is just fine, no stumble anymore. i get home and remember about the threads i read about watching the plug wires in pitch blackness to see if they are arching, and sure enough they are. every once and a while i will see one arch. no biggie for now, now i KNOW i need new wires.

It is possible that with the stumbling that is why i ran a slow time, but ill get most of the stuff straigtened out and go again.
