Default Rod swap/install writeup?

Is there a good one? I know it's the worst part of our bottom end, and I have no clue as to how to start this kinda thing. Never touched the bottom end before, unless you count a cam, which I wouldn't.

The machineing is key, the crank needs to be spot-on, the block also (crank allignment) along with the bore, good quality rods/bolts are what your after, if you've never worked on a short block, get some good chevy rebuild books & start reading , familiarize yourself with things, the machine shop will set them up as for checking balance/straightness & any reconditioning if needed, plus installing the bolts & pistons, even though there a new set, they still need to be checked, if its a street car, i would stay away from an aluminum rod, they have less life cycle, just get a good "lighter" forged rod with wave-lock bolts.

Well it won't be anytime soon. I can't even think of planning something like this without knowing what I'd be getting into. Thanks though. It is something I will eventually do, unless I find that it is something I can easily do. I thought a cam install was decently easy, so who knows.

changing stock rods is not something you can do at home. It is part of a rebuild.
