He has a 96, on which there IS a crank position sensor.
But no it won't cause stalling if it goes out.
po336 can also be for the opti though, which could cause stalling.

I under the impression that a P0336 means the crankshaft position signals (CPS from the reluctor ring & sensor on the crank) and the camshaft position (low resolution signal from the opti) have conflicting information. If you are experiencing stalling and running problems it could be the opti or related cabling. R U seeing any other codes like a p1371 ?

well i ordered a new opti from gm today, so im hopin my cars runs strong once i replace this. Anyone ever have there reluctor wheel get messed up, will it hurt anything or cause any problems?

Not personally, but have read a post about a loose reluctor. Apparently it's is held snug by the hub being completely seated against it. ref shoebox : http://shbox.com/1/engine_front_diagram.jpg . Wouldn't hurt to make sure the hub is seated and bolt is tightened to correct torque. The ring is a solid piece of steel, not much could go wrong with it beyond grinding against the sensor, you should then get some CPS failures not just p0336 crank-to-Opti synchronization errors.
