Installing 1.6's roller rockers today and have ???'s
Just pulled covers off and the stock 1.5's are not roller tipped, didnt know that. Any way its a 96 lt1 and I want to know if the 1.6's roller tipped would work on the stock push rods. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

if the rockers you just got are (self-aligning)you are good to go without any problems....
if those new rockers are(non self-aligning)you should definately get hardened pushrods and new studs..

because non self aligning rockers need guideplates and the pushrods rub againts the plates and wear down overtime. if you have hardened pushrods they wont wear down
self aligning have a lip on each side of the rocker to keep it on the valve stem so its not necessary for different pushrods

I would replace the valve springs if you have over 100k,you are upping your lift, and wore out springs will go into valve float over 5 grand.1.6 rockers are probably worth 10 hp,as long as you have good springs.I will be installing mine when I install my headers,I have a buddy that done this and picked up 34hp and 11lbs ,on the dyno with a tune ,rockers, and lt headers.

I have Crane Gold self aligning 1.6:1 RRs on my stock cam & push rods...no problems....they will give you .477" lift on the In. and .490" lift on the Ex.
Stock 1.5:1 rockers are .447" lift on In. and .459" lift on Ex.
My 93 has 80k miles on it, so the springs are still pretty good, but if you have high milage new springs are a good idea for sure.

stock PR will work fine with 1:6 SARR but replacing with .080 thick wall chrome molly ones will greatly reduce any "wobble" the thinner stock PR's get. 7.2" length many manufactures make them. As mentioned it is a very good idea to replace the original springs. Crane 10308-1 for AL heads is a plug & play kit. Also valve stem seals if doing springs. FelPro "viton" rubber ones.

I have been considering doing this pretty soon. New rockers, springs, and pushrods on stock cam and then install a new cam probably next winter or spring.
So i guess it was a pretty noticeable pickup?

Yea! When just cruising and give it a little throttle it pulls smoother and harder. Feels great. I am guessing i picked up 15-20hp. At least that's what it feels like.

rockers
If your on a budget like me,you can get the 1.6 guided rockers off ebay for $90,I installed these on a 406 with about 450hp +575 lift cam over a year ago, they have had a very, very, hard life ,and there holding up well.I have these for my car ,I am installing them +springs when my headers get here.
