Default WOW... disappointed a bit at track...

Soooo I go to the track up where I live, I did two runs and BOTH runs I did garbage launches... like I almost stalled... but anyways here is my best slip:

R/t - .746
60' - 2.430
330- 6.556
1/8- 9.956
MPH-72.63
1000-12.853
1/4 - 15.332
MPH-91.24

can someone explain how I should PROPERLY launch my car... I worry about the shitty rear-ends they put on these cars so I didn't want to dump the clutch etc...

any pointers?!?

my car has fresh re-built LT1, flowmaster cat-back, K&N C.A.I., 160 degree thermostat, and I got the T56 and thats it performance wise...

wierd thing too is there was a camaro my year there and had a rebuilt motor with the LT4 Hot Cam, 1.6 RR's, stock manifolds and auto and I even beat him!?

I figure my car should be atleast mid to high 14's so ya... it was a pretty humid day it rained just after I left too so...?

anyways, any help is appreciated thanks in advance.

It takes practis, more you launch the better you get. I launch mine at around 3,500rpm on stock 10 bolt. Some people shift too soon or too late and it really hurts the 1/4 mile times. You just have to work at it and try different shift points.

i dont have LT4 hot cam, so i couldnt tell you excatly where to shift at.

Are you on street tires? running drag radials or slicks helps.

I was on Street tires... you sure 3500rpm is safe on stock 10-bolt lol I've been through one rear-end already

I've never ran mine at the track for times, but everyone tells me it takes time to get good at it and to learn your car. Keep at it and you'll be in the high 13's low 14's b4 you know it.

ya i been launching mine at 3,500rpm for couple years now still on stock clutch, 10 bolt and DR's.

i would guess people that launch it harder are the once breaking 10 bolt, and people launching it hard with slicks, eeek.

Those ETs & MPH are low, even with a 2.4 60ft., you should be closer to 100 mph & solidely in the 14s, UNLESS your alt. is WAY high. You can get away with 2500-3000 launches, especially with a stock clutch, the 3.42s will hold up much longer then 4.11s in a 10 bolt.

Maybe the timing system was screwed up somehow?

Were other people complaining?

Some LT1's just run slow. My old stock LT1 Vette (auto) ran 13.7@102. My LT1 Camaro (auto) ran 15.4@94 when it was stock. I've since added 31 miles per hour in trap speed.

It's also good to keep in mind that these engines are obsolete and should be judged "relatively" rather than comparing them to Gen IV LS technology--not that you're doing that.

Theres a few people i dont want knowing what i run cant post my time yet.

i dont see why you cant get into high 13's unless your engine is lacking power, id just work on the 60ft and try shifting at different rpm's see if it changes anything. Try bring that 60ft down to 1.9 i would also try playing around with the tire pressure see what works best, when i had street tires i got good results with 24psi.

manuals are a different ball game, especially when the driver is new to it. no point of comparison.

I agree. My car was solid 14.3s stone stock, but autos are always more consistent (not much skill required to floor it). Work on the launches and the shift points, and you should see gradual improvements. Temps and altitude play a role in it, but for M6s it is mostly about driver skill and practice.

You have alot more in her at that alt., even on a hot/humid day, just go back & practice your launches/shift points, are you sure you went the whole 1/4?

Shift at 5800 launch at 2500 on stock tires at 24 psi, Dont do a huge burn out and drive around the water box back right to the edge of it and just dump the clutch to clean them up. Dont brake tourqe it. Shallow stage the car. Pull up untill the first yellows light up then creep up to just barly light up the 2nd set of lights. Leave on the 2nd to last yellow. Dont wait for the green.

I have done hundreds of runs on stock 10 bolts with stock clutch on DRs leaving at 2500.
60fts in the 1.8-9s and stock ran around 101mph. Even if your spinning bad your trap should be alot closer to 100. And the LT4 cam car should have been running 107-112mph with stock unported heads.

Where did you run at? When my car was stock I ran a best of 13.98@99 on street tires getting 2.10 60'. The first few times I went I ran around 14.4 until I got used to launching and shifting. Practice goes along way with stick cars.

what kind of car do you have? my m6 had traction control bone stock. im sure that could hurt your et. also maybe you're getting some knock retard stealing power. do you have an lt4 knock module ? and what rpm are you trying to shift at?
