Default LT1 Street/Strip Motor Build ?s

Hey everyone,

I'm helping a buddy spec out a motor combo for his LT1 Formula. He wants the car to be fast as ***** but still be streetable. It does not have to be emissions legal, and will not be a dd. Now, that being said, he wants to run a nitrous application (probably a big shot or even a dual stage). My question is, what motor, head, cam combo would anyone recommend.

He had suggested a 383, but I'm not sure that would be best for a serious N2O app. Should he just build the short block on stock cubes with forged pistons, rods, crank and moly rings? What would be the best spec cam to use that would take full advantage of the nitrous in the powerband but still keep the motor street-friendly? Any and all advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. He's got a good idea of where he wants to go with the build, but we just need a hint at the right combo of parts. Thanks.

Would trick flows net a higher cr than lloyed elliott heads? Also, what rings and cam grind would you recommend? And would head studs be a better choice for a 200+ shot of spray? Thanks.

alot of your questions need more info to give a good suggestion...

Car weight, tranny, rear, gears, exhaust, suspension....and most of all budget...will play into a good combo.

I can give you a list of parts that will run 9's...and another that will run 10's, and its possible that neither will fit the budget.

Well, we figure to run a th400 with a 3600 stall, probably 3500 lbs w/ driver, 12-bolt rear w/ a 3.73 gear, pacesetter lt's, !emissions, dumped true duals, bmr rear suspension, qa1 shocks. The budget for the motor, fuel system, nitrous system, ignition system will probably be (and don't quote me on this) around $10k total.

This will be tough but here goes....I can help supply most if not all of the parts listed below if needed

Ignition.
MSD digital 6 $319.50
http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog...roduct_id=3197
MSD 8252 coil $125
MSD Opti $515 (if needed)
Plugs (Included in nitrous kit price)
Plug Wires $109.65 (I like the Taylor 10.4 mm)

Fuel System
Racetronix $249.95 (should support up to 600whp)
http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog...product_id=968
Fuel Rails $81.95
Fuel Hose and fittings $200
Fuel Pressure Regulator $163.95

Nitrous Kit $1298.03 Plate system or Spray bars in intake
http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog...roduct_id=2809

Engine
383 cid shortblock $3500-4500 depending on options (higher end includes cam, timing chain etc)
AFR CNC 195 Eliminator heads $1824 for the Street Port and $2524 for the Race Port
Edelbrock Vic-E manifold $329.95
860 Performance Elbow $300

Estimating approximately $10,000 in parts

Motor should easilly make mid/low 400 HP NA and handle 200 or so in nitrous.....this is a similar build to this car.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuKiVh1WYbc

That car has gone 10.96 @ 122 NA and 10.32 @ 130 on just a 100 shot...will easily go into the 9's on 200
