Default getting toasty

I just recently took my car to a friends shop to geta new opti, he did the work its back on the road and running but, its getting hot it hasn't touch the red area but the fan's kick on and it goes back down but it doesn't go down to 160 anymore seem's like it's always running 200 now any ideas

LOL! I noticed the same thing today in traffic. But its hot as hell today. Im not worried as soon as i started driving it went back down. And the fans were on when it was in traffic. Its all good

lt1's are known for air pockets... have you opened the bleeder valve on the thermostat housing ??

Yes he may have forgot or didnt know to bleed the system.

where is that bleeder valve, it was running 200/210 constantly it never moved from that area. Although i did drive it home from a friends house this was about 4in the morning didn't have a clue what the tempature outside was and it never went more then a tad bit below 160 befor i got home it was probaly a 3 mile tripe or so

just bleed the system it's stil lrunning 200-210 does it sound like it's the thermostat

easy way to check your t stat is put it in some water on your stove and put a thermometer in it and when it gets to 160 see if it opens up.

Looking at your mod list 200 is normal, LT1s run nominally @210, anyone on here experienced will tell you that. Don't sweat it in other words. The 160 stat is fine and all but when it's hot at least around here in SE TX 210 always shows up.

Funny thing is my stock temp gauge after a few years when I installed the 396 stroker in PEPE, it showed 170 on the stock gauge and 200 on the AutoMeter redundant pillar gauges I installed later. imagine that, which was more accurate? I think the AutoMeters personally.
