you may not have to replace the selonoids again just try to empty the pellets from them and reinstal....
I didn't look when I was in the wheelwell- is it easy to get the charcoal canister out?

OK, so finding the charcoal canister was impossible in my area for less than a hundred bucks. I'll grab it from gmpartsdirect.com for like 55 bucks.

Once the canister is in, is there anything else I need to do, like to prevent those little black crystals form gumming up the works?

Wow, so gmpartsdirect took their sweetass time getting me the charcoal canister- went to put it in today and it started raining on me- I'd have kept working but I didn't want to get my jack rusty .

I didn't get a good look, but what the hell kind of bracket keeps that thing in? I couldn't see much even with my flashlight- couldn't get the damn thing out- can someone tell me what kind of bracket this is?

If I remember correctly, there is a strap that goes around the canister that holds it in place. I remember it took some doing when I removed mine a couple years ago. Unfortunately, I don't remember the specifics of getting the strap off the old one.

Yeah, the part that looks like it's the fastening point is outboard and kind of in a bad spot between the canister and the inner quarter panel where my big *** hands don't fit (I'm a Yeti).

Can anyone tell me what to do about this? I had the black crystals, which I assume is why the code keeps coming up- how do you get this **** out of the system?

How much carbon should be coming out of these lines?

I finally got time off school and work for Thanksgiving, so I got to this. I got a little carbon I guess, unless it's deteriorated pieces of rubber from the hose.

well. I'd say it's my charcoal canister. I didn't quite take it off, but I took the lines that came directly off of it, and had some pretty decent sized carbon *****.

Plus it usually smells like gas from that direction when I turn off my car and get out.

So I'm just gonna buy it from gmpartsdirect, and replaces some hoses down there.

Hopefully that fixes my problem.

The code sets because the purge valve is allowing flow into the motor when it is not commanded to. The canister breaking up gets the carbon ***** in to the lines and jambs the purge solenoid open. Try using compressed air to blow through the purge solenoid. It is a normally closed solenoid so if it flows through its junk.

I replaced the charcoal canister, and used the scan tool to erase the code.

Well it probably went some 21 miles and it gave out the code again.

I'll probably replace the thingy majig (edit: purge solenoid valve) from page 1 and hopefully that ends this dilemma.

True story,
The plastic tube on my engine that draws fuel vapor from the EVAP cannister was stopped up solid with charcoal chunks, so I need a way to clean it out.

I tried soaking it in gas and cleaners, I also tried bending it but nothing worked. Finaly I broke it up just enough so that air or fluid could barely get through.

I then filled a cup with some purple power and sucked it up through the tube as if it were a straw with the hope that this would help to break up the clog.

So guess what. I assumed that purple power was just a harmless cleaner until I got it in my mouth then OMG. Mouth was totally on fire like SOB and I spit the **** out all over the place in the kitchen. I have siphoned gas tanks and gas tastes like Koolaid compared to purple power cleaner. So since I did not learn my lesson and since the pain and discomfort was not enough I did it a second time.

I cant believe I am telling you guys this.
About 15 minutes later after the pain had subsided a bit I noticed that my lips were getting bigger. I then looked like JJ Walker from "Good Times" in th 70's for a few hours and it also messed up my speech with a major lisp. My wife absolutely could not believe what I did and dropped dead laughing at my new appearance and accent. Dyn-o-mite.

The bottom line is I finally got the plastic tube cleaned out but if I had to do it again I would just buy a replacement no matter what the cost. So the moral of the story, if you ever find some purple power in your mouth , spit don't swallow. Sorry, no video or pics to show.

I deleted my EVAP and purge, but when I did have it, I was checking the rubber hoses connecting the solenoids and I thought they looked good, but for some reason I check it again, and one of the hoses was absolutely clogged with carbon.

Check all of your lines for carbon build up as well. Good luck guys.
