Made some changes. Thanks

Although, my memory must be slipping because I believe I remember when he posted his low 9 sec run that there was a big debate over the use of converted sbc heads or something. Ehh either way.

Nothing taken away from Joe's times or car, but that article clearly shows a car that is 10 steps farther down the race car path. It'll be interesting to see what Rick runs as the weather gets cold and he gets the new power under control.

And it was decided that if it's got a opti and it's rev. cooled.. it's a LTx.. provided it uses a LTx block of course... And both car's meet that criteria...

As far as 10 step's further.. I dunno if you consider a TH400, and some racing seat's further down the path than a set of stock bucket's and a 60e...so be it... Last i checked.. no street car's came w/ wheelie bars... I'm just happy to see some 4l60's holding it down!!!

I thought it was much more radical, converted 15degree heads and a few hundred pounds lighter?? If I am wrong please correct me.

Faster is faster but still helps to understand differences.
Joe was SR 383 w/ LT4 heads. I dont see how is car was 'much' more radical, both rick and joe's cars are racecars that run at racetracks.

Joe's car had a fiberglass dash, didn't have a speedometer, race weight was 3,020lbs, had a 3 gallon fuel cell instead of a fuel tank, had an oil accumulator and vacuum pump, etc.

Good deal, there is the .4 difference between him and Rick. Thats also 10+yrs of technology that has changed.

I didnt say rick's car wasnt impressive, I just dont think many people are going to replicate these results. And it seems AI trys to market there stuff with Ricks car.

Tony.

you show me 4-5 cars all running that number with those parts I'll believe... A "ringer" does not qualify as the end all be all in my opinion.

what's the weight diff between a lt1 tank with 3 gal and a fuel cell with 3 gaL...? Not enough to make a diff...

Steve Quinn, joe o,ed wright, dave diluca, chris sikora..those fellas were doing things back in the day.. I can pay my head guy 3k and probably have a set of ltx castings that kick the **** outta alot of stuff on the shelf and on sale around here.. It's sad but true...marketing is everything ...

I expect nothing less from a properly set up, light car.

Lol at everyone in this thread. You all know how it gets done, but no one is doing it.

Rick isn't running super stock or 2800 pounds without driver. His parts are off the shelf not welded up 1 off pieces. His suspension is the same thing anyone else could buy and run. His engine has lots of oil pressure and no welding or games.

I call rick's car a "ringer" why cause it's the only one of it's kind.... The avg joe cannot replicate it's accomplishments.. hat's off to rick for doing it.. I"m not trying to start a pissing contest here.. i'm not a affiliate of either brand... It's just the same car over & over again..

Agreed, these guys have their set ups nailed down, thats why they can consistently push the bar. A lot of people tend to fixate on the power making components, but tend to neglect the fact these cars have their tire, suspension, gear and converter down for their set ups. That takes a ton of knowledge and time, thats why not every one is running 9s NA in their 383s. The three tenths is a pretty big difference when your going that fast NA, who knows what Joe's set up could have potentially also gone faster had he continued racing it.
