Default ***Ai 383R long block with TFS 215 heads goes 9.6@139.9mph NA ***

Looks like Rick Abare and Ai are raising the bar again. Rick has run his most recent NATURALLY ASPIRATED Ai crate engine to 9.6X @ 139.9mph! These times were run in +1400 to +2200ft DA at 34XX pounds.

Time slip

VIDEO - 9.7 Pass

Slow Motion Video (that would make me pucker if I was driving)

Video of the car getting crazy

Further information on the runs and engine

These passes were made with an Ai 383R crate engine topped with Ai ported TFS 215's and a ported single plane manifold. Compression is a street friendly 11.7:1 and this motor ran on 93 octane for its mid 9 second runs. In running a 9.6 NA quarter mile, Rick has pushed his street friendly motor into the spot of the second fastest NA LT1. The times should fall as the weather and car fall into line, but the passes are proof of what hard work and THE BEST parts are capable of.

Before you post "It's not a street car" please consider:
Stickers, wheelie bars and a cage are for competition and safety, they don't affect driveability or the engine. This engine/cam has around 10 degrees LESS duration intake and exhaust than his last one. The cam is NOT big for a 383 of this caliber. This motor runs on pump gas and is under 12:1 compression. This car is not gutted, stripped or hobbled together like so many other fast cars.

If you are going to compare it to another car or the fastest NA LT1, consider that Joe Overton ran 9.3X @142 with lots of compression (12.8:1), very light weight (3,000 lbs race weight) etc.

Congratulations to Rick and I can't wait to see these times drop.

Thats quick, but its also hard to compare that car with their customer cars. Most guys arent going to have the R&D to dial a car down that much. And Joe O ran that quick E/T like 10 years ago, so technology is outed

Either way, its fast. Good Job AI/Rick.

I think you over estimate some and underestimate other customers. Ai sells parts and you could buy the same ones that Rick is running.

I'm not going to belittle the time and effort into the cars, but the parts are the same. Ai does the R&D and with your credit card, you could own the parts capable of the same times. The outstanding performance isn't unique to one car or one person as evidenced by Mike Harvey.

LINK - Mike Harvey Info

Rick has a great car, but others Ai customers are putting down impressive times too:

Fastest GM Stock Shortblock LT1 - 10.89 @ 127.9mph w/ 200cc Heads & 227deg HR
Fastest NA GM LT1 headed F-Body - 9.88 @ 138.75mph w/ 200cc Heads & SR on 93 octane
Fastest Power Adder GM LT1 headed F-body - 9.8 @ 156.75mph w/ 200cc Heads & 218deg HR
Fastest NA Impala SS @ 3880lb - 10.7's @ 126mph w/ 200cc Heads & SR
Fastest 4k+ lb GM Stock Shortblock B-Body - 11.9's @ 113mph
Most Powerful GM Stock Shortblock LT1 - M6, HR, 453rwhp SAE
Most Powerful GM LT1 Headed - Turbo 355 - 1012rwhp SAE
Most Powerful NA GM LT1 Headed- NA 383 A4 - 552rwhp SAE

You say he's running 4.30s like it's some insane gear? With a larger tire it's nothing:shrug: He could run on radials and give up maybe a tenth or maybe even nothing?

Have details on Joe's setup??
I thought it was much more radical, converted 15degree heads and a few hundred pounds lighter?? If I am wrong please correct me.

Faster is faster but still helps to understand differences.
