service engine soon????
service engine soon???? 
i was driving to a friends house and my service engine soon light comes on right.... no engine change, no performance decline. just that now it does not go into 4th or over drive.... it does go up and down through 1 2 3, just not into the other gears...... any suggestions...... 94' LT1 camaro.... 
autozone....... but anything else could be wrong........ any idea's

can get an idea until ya get it scanned. and is it auto or manual? you said won't go into 4th or OD....but 4th is OD on automatics. so you have 1-2-3 and not OD. possible problem in the trans then with a sensor or something. but like i said get it scanned. gotta pay the cash to have a shop scan it

Lots of people quick to jump to an expensive conclusion when he hasn't mentioned anything but a single symptom.
You said it hangs up in first sometimes as well? At part throttle (normal driving) what kind of rpms are you seeing before shifts into 2nd and 3rd? Does it have any problems idling in Drive, like at a red light? Does it have problems shifting at WOT?

have you checked the tranny fluid? check engine light wouldn't kick on for the trans i think. what condition does the light come on? could be something simple like an egr. just have a shop scan it though. too hard to diagnose the check engine light over the internet with out a code.
