i guess if you just wait for the input shaft and clutch to spin-down a little before trying to put it in the next gear. kind of like double clutching, except you are letting time do the work instead of the first clutch of a double clutch.

Wait...first clutch of a double clutch? Like on an older farm tractor where one clutch plate stops the tractor and the second stops the pto and hydraulics? Is this the same double clutching they are talking about?

I need a beer.

I had a proshifted trans, but due to my driving habits (good and bad) I got tired of how it acted when I was on the street. So I said f-it and went back to a syncronized trans. And still went 9.80 at the track. But at the track it definately helps just rid of trans feeling like it stuck in gear or won't go into gear. I'll be trying faceplating next since now my car is basically a track car with tags on it now.

Face-plated transmissions must be shifted QUICKLY under all circumstances. Properly shifted face-plated transmissions last a LONG time, but any grinding (any at all!) will significantly reduce the transmission's life. It is absolutely critical to shift smoothly and quickly to avoid grinding. Wimpy shifts like in that last vid tear up the dog rings! Shifting a face-plated transmission properly is effortless, even on the street - you just have to move the shifter more quickly into gear than you would with a synchro trans. The shift should return a nice solid "clunk" with no griding or chatter (see Project GatTagO's video for a good example). If low-speed shifting cannot be accomplished without grinding or rev-matching, the dogs are already burred up and must be serviced to return them to normal. If you shift a face-plated trans like you would a synchro trans, it will not last.
