Id bet money they were installed wrong, or not broke in properly,, not balanced, etc, etc, eveyone is so quick bash on Spec, when its their own damn fault it dosnt work right.

I would agree. I never owned a spec clutch before but have heard alot of bad about them on this board and still plan to use a 4+ because I feel confident after talking with a few who have and the spec engineers. If the product was that bad I do not think they would still be in business. I went with Tex because it was the greatest thing per everyone on this board and it wound up not supporting my setup.

yeah thats always the reason they mess up, not because theyre crap. So since my response is that theyre clutch is crap you guys are so quick to assume that it wasnt installed incorrecly, or not broken in properly.

Maybe because there are tons of us that have specs that hold up like they are supposed to. When someone blows through a 3 or 3+ with under 400HP it is almost guaranteed that it wasnt a part defect. Some of us run 600HP cars on 3's and 3+'s with no problem.

650hp and 740tq on my 3+. Over 5000k miles on mine with many track passes. Still looks good when I pulled it out. Had a bad lifter so the motor had to come out, wasn't clutch related.

i had a spec stage TWO that was holdin 380 rwhp with no problem, even after 3 years and 20,000 miles. SPEC clutches arent junk, whats junk is the ignorance associated with the people who bash them for no reason, and the fact that the clutch had nothing to do with why it went out on them....it was prob user error and not broken in properly

oh hoooo you 2? why is it that people are so quick to judge on others opinions. You may like your spec, i didnt. So why is it so hard to take into consideration that even though it may be good for some and not so good for others. There are going to be mixed opinions, but that doesnt mean that if i didnt like my spec that everything beyond the shipping of the product is USER ERROR. There is a possibility for a company coming out with a POS. Some swear by them and others dont. It doesnt make any sense that when a thread comes up about any manufacturer and if the buyer is complaining then the first thing people come up with is User error.

Let me ask you something. If you built your own motor with all new parts and a month later you spin the bearings, would you blame the bearing or rod manufacturer or would you be more inclined to believe the clearances werent set properly by the builder? And lets also assume these bearings and rods have also been used in heavy race applications and have worked fine.

If I read several dozen or so people over the years spun bearings using "brand A" over and over again, I'd use brand B.

The more a product sells the more failures you have, SPEC happens to have more sales than most other companies so obviously there will be more failure stories than a company that doesnt sell many. Thats just statistics.

That's funny cause no one around here uses em. If you want to put a pos in your car then go ahead, I could care less. I never see any "My Mcleod clutch blew up after 2,000 miles threads". Ohh wait thats installer error right? Makes sense tho, anyone dumb enough to put one in their car prolly would install it wrong.

LOL, mine works great with over 600HP and there are plenty of others with them as well that handle high power.

If nobody uses them then how do so many fail??

I said no one around here uses them, pay attention. I'm glad yours works well for you. You rolled the dice skimping on the clutch to save a few dollars (only reason anyone considers them in the 1st place). If every single one of them failed then I'd assume no one would buy em.

I rolled the dice?? Ive used 2 SPEC clutches with good results on both. Plenty of people on tech use them too. Dont know where you came up with that.
