I run the 3+ in my car with just under 600whp on the bottle and mine has been great to me. It's taken 4k WOT slips at the track with out a problem. I have 10k miles on it so far and its my DD.

If Spec clutches are so problematic, why then do a lot of the top sponsors run Specs in their own drag cars? Also, it seems that Spec comes in first in polls when the question of "what clutch do you have" comes up. If you do a search I think you'll find that true.

I haven't used a stage 4+, but we've had good results with almost all the spec clutches we've installed. I ran a spec 3 in my car years ago making 580 rwhp and 607 rwtq with a 150 shot. I launched the car at 7000 rpms spraying out of the hole off a two step. It cut low 1.4's sixty fts and lasted untold track passes and about 10k street miles. It took two years to put that many miles on it and I was satisfied with the results. Our other shop car cut a low 1.40 sixty fts. with a spec 3, ran 10.50's at full weight with cam only/spray and lasted about 8k miles with the same kind of abuse.

Now, our car has a spec 5. The only spec clutches we've had that didn't hold up were all in one bolt-on car and I'm absolutely certain they wore out because of the customers driving style. We finally just installed a new LS7 clutch hoping it would last a while.

Same old same old it seems...questions asked...misinformation and generalizations provided...lol! A Stage 4+ is a rigid version of a stage 3+. It uses the same full-faced carbon-semi-metallic material but does not have a sprung hub. Capacity will be similar to that of the stage 3+. Drivability is also similar...but it can be a bit harsher in terms of engagement. I hope this info helps. Let me know if you all have any further questions. Thanks!

I loved my spec 4+. But I too had issues spec clutches. I had issues with the rivots coming loose on the hub. Happened twice. The clutch is streetable just alittle different driving skills are required. Hell I still have the spec4+ sitting on my tool box in great condition but the rivots on the disc are loose. Spec said that they would fix them at miniumal charge, So if you want one to try out of cheap just send me a pm for it.

everyone has their own opinion of spec, and everyone is right, they are good, and they do suck. It all depends on who you ask, I went through 4 different spec clutches in under 8k miles, 2 stage 3, one stage 4, and one stage 5, this was before the 3+ kits where out. this ranged from bolt on power to my current set up of 613rwhp, and a 250 nitrous shot. I wouldn't install one of thier kits if they gave it to me for free, I would either be wasting my time, or money to install it(point of view). all my clutches were installed correctly determined by a different tech than that had originally installed it, and all were broken in for over 750 miles. I then went to a tex single, switched out for a twin, now I have a triple, none of the tex clutches failed on me, they are both currently in 2 of my friends cars running strong. After all this I have still recommended their clutches to people simply becasue I know people that have had good luck with them, I have also talked to a lot of people on this site that have had good luck with them. In the performance world, sometimes products, or set ups just dont work in your situation, doesn't mean they wont in someone else.

my spec 4 just slipped for the first time on the dyno, and i have been totally happy with it, i put 10000 miles on it this year, and over 100 track dumps between 4k and 6k on slicks cutting as good as 1.4 60' at ~550rwhp and doing 10.70s, i think that im gonna go with a 3+ next i prob do to much street driving for another 4
