Default Static/sewing machine noise in 4th,5th,6th gear?

I have owned 13 4th generation F-Bodies. I have heard of the syncros going bad and the grinding noise but this noise is completely different. kinda like a static/sewing machine noise. The noise gets louder when i step on the gas but its still there when my foot is off the gas. Any ideas? Thanks

why would i need to check differential fluid? If diff fluid was low the noise would be in every gear correct? Not just 5th and 6th

Any difference in noise when the clutch is in or out?

How many miles on the trans, and was it ever run low on fluid?

Could be the 5/6 cluster gear wearing out the mainshaft splines, or any number of things on the 5/6 extension, but being that 4th makes the noise also, I'm more inclined to look at a clutch/load issue.

Thanks for the post. The trans has had 115k on it. The noise only occurs when my foot is on the gas in 5th and 6th. The noise in 4th is barely noticeable. Its probably my imagination.
