Default pistol grip shifter and cold winter mornings

first off let me say that i DD a 98 trans am m6; equipped with an aluminum(?) pistol grip shifter. i love the pistol grip shifter to death and i really dont want to go back to stock style, but i do have my eye on the c6 vette *****.

anyways, and im sure many other people experience the same thing, but when you drive first thing on a cold winter morning, the metal pistol grip is cold as F**K!!! i can put up with the inside car temp. being 40*, but i dont like putting my palm on a freezing piece of aluminum. so i got to ask: how do you guys get over this problem (without changing *****)? (ps- ive been starting to drive with gloves on; defintly solves the problem of the cold shifter, but its hard to control the radio and look outright stupid driving with gloves.)

Drive with a glove on your right hand, and look at people MJ style?
Put tape around the aluminum?

i tried it, but it gust awkward to grip. however, my planright now is to keep a glove over the shifter when im not drving. hopefully it keeps it somewhat proected from the cold

Your hands only on the shifter for a few seconds when shifting gears! You could just hold onto your shifter for a few minutes before driving and it should then warm up.

Mine is freezing in the mornings to, I just keep my hand there for a bit and it warms up. If it still bothers you that much get the other handle you want, you obviously like it.

I had no heat in my 86 Camaro and had a B&M t handle, I just always wore thin gloves while driving. Don't give a **** how I look to those driving around me.

Unscrew the shifter and put it inside for the night? You could put it near the heat vent or radiator and make it warmer than room temp. Then you'd have a hand warmer too. haha...

I have been wanting to have mine covered in leather, I think that would look good and help the cold hand.
