I'm replacing the stock T56 (2.66 1st gear) in my stock 99 Z28 with a replacement T56 from Tremec with the 2.97 1st gear. This car is a daily driver and I'm just looking for a reliable stock replacement. Should I go with GM, Zoom, Hays, Centerforce, or is a Pep Boys replacement good enough?

I found that Pace Performance sells the LS6 clutch disc, pressure plate, and flywheel assembly for $460. Sounds like a pretty good deal considering I plan on installing ported heads, LS6 intake, Pacesetter headers, and a moderate cam in the future.

I found a EXEDY/LuK LS6 kit from Gripforce with billet steel flywheel, release bearing, disc, pressure plate, and pilot bearing on Ebay for $264 + $35 shipping. Is EXEDY any good?

Just one recommendation for Centerforce? No other opinions from anybody? I haven't seen very many good reviews for Centerforce on this message board, but that was for higher performance clutches.

exedy seems good but what kind of power are you looking to put down? and how much do you want to spend there are some good clutches and if you plan on adding a good bit of power with that cam you will need something a little better then a ls6 clutch. try monster clutches

I'd say us, but, cheap and a "good clutch" usually don't go hand-in-hand.

I know ZOOM used to make pretty good clutches for Gen I 350's...but haven't heard too much about the quality of their product on the LS series vehicles.

Disturbed Bird - I plan on making 400-425 horsepower max. Right now the car is entirely stock except my new transmission has the 2.97 1st gear.

LS7 clutch kit seems to be your best choice, $450 from SDPC. Just installed one myself.

Aetos - will an LS7 kit work on my '99 LS1? Will I have to replace the flywheel or make any master/slave mods or upgrades?

You need the whole kit, comes with flywheel, pressure plate, clutch plate and bolts, everything you need. Its smart to switch the slave and pilot bearing at the same time since they're all in the same area. I just had all this work done 2-3 weeks ago.

I would also look into buying a Tick Master Adjustable Cylinder. All of this should give you a pretty nice shift which will hold around 400-450rwhp, while keeping a stock pedal feel.

Ill second the reccomendation for monster clutches. Im running a centerforce 12 inch And its good, but what you get for the money with Monster is unbeatable! And a 12 month warranty? Seriously a good freakin deal. Hell a sintered Iorn disk clutch for 700ish bucks, works for me!
