Default t56 to 6.0l question?

i have a 99ss and i bought a 6.0l and i was wondering how to tell what year the engine is so i can know if it will bolt to the t56.. I was told that the 6.0 has to be a 2001 and up... any ideas?

You are correct on the year. The crankshaft on the '99-'00 6.0 motors has a thicker rear flange and will only bolt up to the 4l80e/th400/th350. You need to be able to see the crank flange to determine whether it'll work for sure or not. It's pretty obvious if you've got an older crank, it sticks out from the rear main seal pretty far compared to a short crank.

look on the driver side of the block at the rear below the head. The vin should be stamped. The 10th digit will give you the year. example 3GNEK12Z25......... 5 is for 2005.
