Default Clutch Recommendations

I'm looking for a clutch for an upcoming T56 conversion that I am doing in my 1995 Impala SS. As you already probably know, these cars aren't exactly light (~4200lbs), and I think an F-Body clutch wouldn't last too long lugging that weight around. I was originally looking at a stock CTS-V clutch, but seeing as the CTS-V wieghs in at just under 3800, thats still a 400lb weight difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

when I had a head/cam + bolt ons on my SS I ran a stock type (Autozone) clutch which worked fine. Most likely would have worn out faster than a lighter car though.

When I did my 383 I could drive right through it. Went with a SPEC 2+ but that did not last long. Did hold well untill it died though.

I now run the ZOOM HP and it holds very well and does not chatter. After compareing stock, Center Force, RAM, SPEC I went with the ZOOM, IMHO, has more beef on the bone interms of disc construction. All pull type PP are a valeo or clone. The CF has a "slideing" weight thing but I am not sold on that effect on a "pull" type clutch.

I like the looks of that ZOOM HP clutch. It does look pretty beefy. How much did that run you? Wouldn't happen to know if they make a version for the LS engines? I'm thinking about a mild N/A 370 Later, but right now I'm planning just H/C plus bolt ons.

Bought it at Summit for around $565 IIRC

Go to ZOOM site, I would think they make clutches for most motors.

Clutches aren't car specific, they're motor transmission specific. You can either make the sure the motor makes enough low end to get you moving along, or put gears out back.

The reason I included the type of vehicle was because I know the LS1 clutches are meant to propel a much lighter vehicle, so there for it would wear faster in a heavier vehicle because of the extra load on it from the weight. Kinda like towing with a T56 but without the trailer lol.

I have some 3.73's that I'm gonna get put in as soon as my eaton gets here, so I'm good on gears.

Stock LS1? What about the LS7 clutch? Don't think it would mind the stress of more weight if you wont be throwing 505hp at it.

I haven't seen the specifics on the LS7 clutch, but I will look into it. Right now, I'm just looking at about 400rwhp as my goal...for right now. I'll take a look at it.
