I'm doing a t56 conversion on my 94 z and accidently torqed down the pp bolts to 27 lbs instead of 22. Should I pull the trans off and redo it? thanks

 

I wouldn't. Ussually PP bolts are torque'd more than that.

 

Stock LS1 PP bolts are torqued to 52 lb ft, not sure what your's should be, but I bet you left them to loose.

 

....ah LT 1 PP bolts are 22 ft lbs......not like LS motors.

With the car on jack stands put tranny in 2nd gear with clutch in and car running....if your rear wheels turn with clutch in....that means it is not disengageing all the way and you WILL wear syncro's, etc. Typically it is hard to get in reverse as well.

The TQ spec is 22 ft lbs for a reason...not 23, 224, 25, etc.

you now have PP bolts TQ 20% more than spec.

Use red lock tite on PP bolts

Don't feel bad...many have made this mistake...I did.

Since the tranny is back in may as well try the test...you may luck out

 

whats strange in my haynes manual say only 15 lbs, the web resources say 22lbs and the directions that came with my hays clutch disc says 30-40. So I honestly don't know what it should be torqued to. I realized that my new flywheel wasn't neutrally balanced for my internally balanced motor so I alreay removed it and took it to the machine shop. just curious what I should torque them to next time

 

22 ft lbs use red lock tite

 

I would leave it alone. How many of you actually get your tq wrenches calibrated every year? I would bet that it is not perfect either way so I would rather be a hair tighter than too loose.

 

as long as you already have red locktite on it i would leave it. the only reason its 22ft/lbs and not 21 or 23 is because 22 comes out to an even number of newton/meters. it not like they made it exactly 22 because 23 or 24 would be too much.

but if you didnt locktite the bolts.... pull that **** off and redo it. lol
