Default Syncro?

How does one know their syncros are going out? Will it be replaced under warranty if you have an aftermarket shifter? When i go from 1-2 it seems harder like almost it gets caught on something. Then it goes into gear kinda annoying, does not happen from 2-3 or any other gear.

Thanks

I just had new syncros put in. My gears were acting the way that you described. Can you put the stock shifter back on before you take it to the dealer?

I am not too confortable removing the shifter maybe a shop would do it.. I dont mind paying for upgraded syncros. Is there a place where I can buy like upgraded syncros and upgraded shift forks?

I just picked up a 99 z28 with a 6-speed. I had a similar problem - shifting from 1-2 with engine revving above 4000 rpm would cause the gears to grind. I brought it back to the dealer, under warranty and was told that the computer software had to be upgraded - and it worked. Hope this may be what you have.

Placebo, the computer has no connection to the clutch or transmission outside of CAGS.
