Default lowdown on short throws and Pro 5.0s?

Hey fellas,
I know this sounds like a retarded question but what exactly will I notice with a Pro 5.0 and a Hurst short throw (what does it change)? I'm new so keep try and make the terms as simple as possible please.

A decent short-throw shifter will decrease the chance of you mis-shifting and causing tranny or engine damage. The short-throw shifter will also increase the chance of quickening your shifts.

I used to have a Ripper in my car, but after i backshifted from 3-2 a couple times I got a Pro 5.0. The springs that center the shifter are alot stronger in the Pro 5.0 than in the Ripper. It will feel alot tighter, but I like that when it comes to racing. Plus with a LSS, the Pro 5.0 is about 3 inches shorter than the ripper.
