Short Throw Shifter of Choice
I searched and couldnt find a poll on these 3 shifters; mgw, pro 5.0, and ripper. So i decided to make one. I'm in the market for a shifter cuz I really don't like my Hurst that came with my car. My friends say go 5.0 cuz thats all they have. But I dont know any one who uses the other 2 on the list. So go vote, and give me your opinion on which is the best

I voted other. I installed a SLP short throw over 5 years ago with a tnamotorsports short stick and a B&M t handle. I love it. Then again I've never used any other shifter except the horrible stocker, so I have no idea what the others feel like, as I've been completely happy with my first choice.

I voted Pro 5.0, but the Ripper is nice too.... just depends on your particular taste. To me the Pro 5.0 feels more firm and notchy but still smooth on the shifts, which is what I like. The ripper to me just feels like and all around nice shifter. I've been wanting to see some reviews on the F-body MGW but haven't seen anyone with one talking about it. They make NICE mustang shifter. If the F-body piece is of equal craftmanship its worth trying.

thats the main reason for this post. i saw the mgw came out a while back. one guy did say he got it and loved it. not sure of the user name but i hope he does see this post to give us an answer. ive heard stories with the ripper where you gota throw ur entire body into shifting with it. so i had to start a poll to get some answers.

I like my hurst pro billet, but like said above I've seen a few MGW threads too that mentioned them being nice(it just wasn't carried by the store i was making my bulk purchase from)

I just put in the MGW shifter in my 99 SS a week ago. I went from the Pro 5.0 which came with the car when I bought it. In my opinion the MGW is a much better shifter as far as high RPM shifting goes. I had problems with the Pro 5.0 that I felt I shouldn't even have to think about with a shifter. I do have the stock hydraulics though. Look at some of the really quick race cars that power shift their cars. As far as I know most are using the Pro 5.0 so it can't be that bad. In all honesty, the problem was probably me. The two shifters a very close in pricing, but I had top notch customer service with MGW. I opted to go with ground shipping instead of two day and still got it in two days. They also sent me both diameter sticks and let me send the one back that I didn't need. My vote goes to MGW.

Im in the same boat as the OP, i think im gonna try the MGW, my buddy has a Pro 5.0 and it is real nice!!! But MGW i heard is nice too so my car is still waiting for spring so by then hopefully enough reviews on the MGW will be out for me to see if i will go with it.

I have a pro 5.0 with lou's short stick and i love it. I went from the stock hurst and i thought that was a pretty good shifter, I also had a pro 5.0 in my 2000 z28 so i haven't had any time with a different shifter.

I have the Hurst billit plus with the short chrome stick and a Hurst T handle. A little old school and love it. I had the optional Hurst from the factory and it sucked.
