I have done a lot of research on this and here is what I found.
It doesnt matter if you buy the master or slave from Autozone, Oreillys, or a GM dealership - they are all made by the same manufacturer.
There is a small stamping on every master/slave which matches across the board.
I usually buy the slave from Autozone because it is only 70 bucks and they offer a lifetime warranty. I get the masters from Oreillys as they are only 72 bucks and have a lifetime warranty.
Hope this clears things up!

Running an autozone unit for awhile. Ive beat on it. Drives just like it did with the GM slave in it. I have a GM slave on the shelf just in case. In fact...side by side, Ide bet money you couldnt tell me which was GM and which was the "autozone" one.
What TDP said is pretty accurate. They're all just about the same. Ive seen them have different bearings on the front...but the casings are all similar and all seem to work fine.
You could get a faulty one from GM and have it bust on you.....same as any part. To say "dont buy from autozone, buy from napa or buy from advance auto" just doesnt make sense.

Since I like posting pictures...I have a few of different slave cylinders. I ended up getting two from autozone. THe one had a different looking bearing, and no casting number. The second one looked identical to the OEM. However Im sure the other would have worked perfectly fine.
GM unit with the other two. You can see the bearing difference.
This is the one I installed...and I will say, it looks nicer than the one from GM. The one from GM looked kinda ratty.
The one I returned.
