Default jumps out of 3rd

Sometimes, not all the time, my car will jump out of 3rd gear violently. Usually more often at part throttle shifting than WOT. Let the clutch out and BOOM! shifter slaps my palm. What's the cause of this? thanks

3-4 shift fork most likely, whe they get bent or worn it doesnt push the slider far enough on the gear. GM has a TSB on it, its a common problem..

If it only happens somtimes, you just might be putting 3rd gear in lazy,, not all the way. make sure you're in the gear.
sometimes if you have a aftermarket shifter with the bumps it may have come loose, preventing you getting into gear.

Are you using the stops on that Pro 5.0 shifter? Mine started doing that in cold weather until I backed the front stop out.

Yeah I backed the stops out about 1 full turn. It hasn't done it since, but now when im driving around normal, not racing, I'm kinda hesitant to use third. I need to have synchros, and maybe a steel 3-4 fork, and who knows what else, maybe a slider and gear or two put in my tranny. I think if it jumps out of 3rd, the teeth on that gear might be worn off, could be the teeth on the slider, but i doubt it since it doesnt jump out of 4th (knocking on wood).

If you are using the stops on your shifter
Take them off
THe T56 has built in stops
I heard this same thing told to me and I still ran stops till I started rebuilding these things.
Now I see what they are talkin about and You do not need or want stops.
