You don't see it as often but I do see the stock 27 spline yoke twist pretty commonly. In fact, I just did one about 3 weeks ago that lasted a week and busted the transmission up. Apparently, the yoke had twisted splines and did not let the yoke compress into the tail housing as needed. It busted up the tailhousing and blew all the fluid out of it. From what I was told, it shredded the yoke and the driveshaft as well. It sucks for the customer but a simple over sight on something like this can have huge consequences.

Is there any way I could bug you for a couple of measurments on that thing? I am trying to do all my homework before I dive into getting one of these, and I can't find the info I need on line. I need to know the bolt hole spacing for the mounting bolts on the shifter, and also if there is any way you could post a picture of the bottom of the shifter and where it bolts to the tranny? I know that is a lot to ask. I am trying to find out if my GMM Rip shifter will bolt to it. There is a pretty good set-back on the shift lever in the GTO. I appreciate any help you can give.

The T56 Magnum uses a totally different shifter than whats used on the T56.

different where it goes into the tranny, or different mounting pattern? Looking at what little info I can find online, it looks like it uses a TKO style shifter, which doesn't look that different. I'm wondering if I can disect the two and combine them, or if I am just going to be fabbing an adapter to move the handle back at least a couple of inches.

The position and the pattern are different. The shifter style is also different than the TKO so swapping components will not work. You will have to fabricate .

Its not a direct fit as some people have said. It does use a regular style LS1 bellhousing and hydraulic slave so that stuff is fine. The issue is in the rear of the unit. The shifter location is a little different. The crossmember location is also off from where the T56 location is and you will need to shorten the driveshaft and install a 31 spline yoke.

Another observaton about the T56 Magnum, with the shift base being bigger than a T-56, it doesn't appear the shifter base can be easily installed once the tranny is installed in an F-body.

I also wonder how much smoother the Magnum or TR6060 shift as oppossed to an MN12.

the main difference is the shifter is moved forward about 1.3"

but the crossmember is same spot as stock. you can look it up in tremec catilog.

and yes the 31 is different.

but i think the drive saft get a couple inchs added.
