GOT MY NEW TRANY TR6060 (T56 Magnum)
got my new trany in. it is bad ***. i got it from D&D. great guys. only problem is that i think there was a misunderstanding when i ordered it. i wanted a 2.66 first gear. and i got a 2.97 first gear. but the great guys at D&D are sending me a new one with 2.66 gears. and then i am sending mine back.

^^^ first to Meentss02. no mods need to be done. tremic sells a direct replacement trany for out cars.
^^^ second to atlss. i pulled boot and there was no stops on the shifter. idk if there is any built into it. i do know that i will proble either wait for someone to release one. or make my own.

Does the new " T56 Magnum " lol, require a shorter drive shaft or any other modifications?
Besides the 31 spine yoke.
Two more inches ... I would definetly have to remove the Y-pipe to get one of those
TR6060s in there.

True on the exhaust setup.
It will be interesting... I think Big_Bird will be the first one on here to
install one of these on an F-body. It won't be too long before we get
some feedback.
I'm also curious to see exactly what's inside of these transmissions.
It will be nice if and when parts and/or service manuals become available.

first. yes it does flip around. but in the picture it is in its furthest back postion.
second. the stock t-56 for main shaft tip to end it 31.9". the t-56 magnum is 33.6". so yes there is a 1.7" difference.
third the shifter on the t-56 is 29.4" from tip of main shaft. on the magnum it is 26.6 in the farthest back location. which is a difference of 2.8". now tremic has told me time and time again it will not mess up the fit of the car. but it will move it further forward. this is why i said i will probly make my own shifter so i can move it back.
any more questions let me know i got the 2009 tremic catalog right in front of me.
and bearcatt, you asked what is in the inside. i heard it was touch by gods hands. but they rate this trany to 700 lb-ft. and i hope to make that and then some. so we will see how long they last. i got a year to break it.

Basically the TR6060/T56 Magnum is a little stronger than a T56 and pretty much on par with what came in the Viper when it had a T56 still.

How many stock T56 units fail at 450 lbs of torque? How many have taken 600+ lbs of torque with a stock main shaft and input shaft? How many Vipers are putting down 1000+ rwhp on a basically stock T56?
Tremec rated the T56 very low to be on the safe side of things. This was done in the GM units mainly because of the 27 spline output shaft. The Ford units were rated around the same because of the 10 spline input shaft and 27 spline output shaft when talking about the 03-04 Cobra.
Its all in the marketing. I hope the T56 Magnum is a hit so the prices come down on the regular T56 as well as what cores cost to purchase. $500-600 for a core is a little ridiculous in my opinion yet thats what they bring most of the time.

It'll be interesting to see how many people have fitment issues with these since there isn't alot of solid info yet. I'll sit back & watch for now to see how it goes.

Sounds like a way better option is to have the stock T56 rebuilt by Tick performance then since the other shop went under. Then there is no guessing on weather or not it fits. And the rebuilds have been working for many years now on some of the fastest LS cars in the nation.

I'm not saying the T56 Magnum is junk but its not much superior to the T56 IMO. If you need a unit and do not have a core, its a good option to consider. If you have a good core to work with, having it rebuilt is a better choice IMO.
