Default Old SBC and T56

I'm sure this has been asked before, and i've searched the forum, but got no wiser. What type of T56 will bolt "right on" a old chevy 350? i'm already running a saginaw/muncie 4 speed with a hydraulic slave sylinder. Whats the easiest way to go, LS1 or LT1?

The LT1 style with the LT1 Bell Housing, Fork and Slave will bolt right up.

I don't know about the LT1 Flywheel..I believe there is a difference in the 2-piece Rear Main Engines that it won't fit.

If you picked the LT box you can use our 8760-00 bellhousing. Then use a 460370 flywheel for a 2pc seal or 460350 for a 1pc seal. Use 75216 Super Street Pro clutch kit(disc & p/p)

If you went with the LS box you could use our 8710-10 bellhousing with a standard clutch kit depending on your current flywheel.

So the LT1 is "Bolt-on" exept of the flywheel and clutch, and the LS1 will need a bellhousing, flywheel and clutch?

Am I right?

The LT1's T56/bell housing/slave/fork requires a LT1 clutch and pressure plate, since it works as a 'pull style' pressure plate (instead of the normal 'push style' as on your Muncie, and LS1s but with hydrualic slave). So you can still use whatever LT1 clutch, but if your SBC is older than '86, then you need a 2 piece rear main crank seal FLYWHEEL with the correct bolt pattern for a '92-'97 LT1/4 pressure plate (readily available from aftermarket clutch companies).
You may also need an aftermarket hydraulic slave assembly, or try to adapt the OEM slave from a '93-'97 F-body.

The LS1 T56 has a different length input shaft, so you would probably need that bellhousing that Mcleod listed earlier in this thread. Adapting clutch/hydraulic stuff might be a little easier going this route, too.
Either way would probably be about the same amount of money, as you would still have to source a couple parts from the aftermarket.
